I love to visit Alaska and the best way to see it is with TAUCK Tours. As an adventure travel enthusiast, I find Alaska to be a place that always amazes me each time I visit. This trip is one that I endorse for those wishing to see the real Alaska. This ten-day tour takes you away from the well-traveled routes of the Inside Passage to less-visited places of spectacular beauty and one-of-a-kind experiences.
Flight-seeing is one of the best ways to see the vast glacier-clad landscapes and peaks of Denali (America’s highest mountain). From a plane, one can see how the glaciers flow and make a river of ice that slowly, yet constantly changes the landscape. This trip is a photographers dream; cruising the Kenai Fjord, known for its resident sea lions, dolphins, whales, bald eagles and dramatic vistas; bear-watching on Crescent Lake; making canine friendships at a kennel that raises champion sled dogs; wilderness hikes with an expert naturalist guide who offers invaluable knowledge and insights; and the best in accommodations and dining.
For about $6,500 for 10-days, it is well-priced for an awesome trip to see Alaska.
Abercrombie & Kent, an operator of African safaris since the 1960s, is trying something it has never done; offering co-branded self-drive packages in which clients drive themselves in Land Rovers. The programs give customers an opportunity to do their own driving in a Land Rover in the wilderness, and there are trainers from Land Rover, called Land Rover Experience instructors, to coach them how to drive the all-terrain vehicles.
Called Land Rover Adventure Travel by Abercrombie & Kent, the programs are offered through a partnership between Abercrombie & Kent and Jaguar Land Rover North America. They are available in a number of destinations, including Botswana, Great Britain, Morocco, Namibia, Tanzania and Australia.
The itineraries are organized by A&K and safari drives are accompanied by wilderness guides as well as Land Rover trainers. Accommodations are luxurious.
Seven programs are offered at the launch of the series:
Departures in September and October 2015:
The Land Rover Adventure Travel by Abercrombie & Kent programs begin at $8,650 per person double occupancy, including meals, accommodations and a range of experiences. Departures start in May.
In my 30 year career in the travel industry, I have always been an adventure traveler.
My adventures have included rafting and hiking expeditions in Alaska and Utah; an expedition to Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro; hiking the Inca Trail from Cusco to Machu Piccu; and I have climbed many peaks in Ecuador and Bolivia with my climbing partner, Bob Garlo of Tequesta.
"For an adventure to be a success in both accomplishment and safety, a knowledgeable guide with a five-star reputation is a must."
I now prefer my adventures with a bit more luxury and comfort, and that is why I endorse Silversea Expeditions for my fellow adventure seekers.
